multiple printer setup

Jason Butler

I am running windows XP home edition with Office 2003 pro.
I have two printers that I have connected I wish to use.
I have a Panasonic Dot Matrix Printer I wish use to create labels using
Word, and my Lexmark all-in-one x5150 to print out the letters. I attempted
to setup the Panasonic to print the labels, setting it to the correct labels
I have in it, and setting it for Dot matrix, but it would still send the
print to the Lexmark. I had to set the Dot Matrix to be the default printer
to print the labels there, but then the letters also end up going to that
printer also. Then, when I went under print options from file, print and set
it to print the letter from other than the default printer, it then started
printing the labels from the Lexmark again. Is there a way to set the labels
area of the program to automatically send the label information to the Dot
matrix printer and the letters to automatically go to the Lexmark, or am I
stuck having to manually change this every time I go to print the items out?
The Dot matrix runs on the parallel port and the Lexmark runs on USB. Thx

It will always print to the default printer, unless you choose File, Print on
the menu and select the other printer. Do not use the Print button.

If you use the 'new document' option to create a new document from the label
wizard, you can use the method described at
http://www.gmayor.com/fax_from_word.htm to direct the output to a specific
printer. Alternatively use the part of the macros required to change
printers and set the two printers up on buttons and select them according to
use.
