Multiple recipients

Hi,

I have a question regarding how Exchange manages emails for multiple
recipients.

I am sending an email to 50 recipients.

If I am using a smart host, does Exchange send out 1 copy to the smart host,
and the smart host then splits it to the 50 recipients. Or does Exchange send
out 50 emails to the smart host?

What if I am using DNS?
