Multiple resources on task need to be scheduled the same time

Hi

I am using MSP2003 for planning a hardware upgrade, and have a resource per
server (all on the 24 hour calendar), a resource for the engineers (2
engineers, so available 200%, and a working time calendar)

When I create a task, specifying the server resource 100% and the engineers
100% (so using one engineer), levelling the project places the the resource
usage for the server and the engineer at different times of the day (or even
different days - I wish I could do these in real life!).

What can I do to prevent this happening?

Thanks in advance

Don't fool with percentages, don't level,
just do it manually. You'll spend less time
scratching your head and get the plan finished
instead.

(When you are bored out of your mind and have
nothing to do, you can try to figure out how
those functions tick...)

This is how you do it, fast, accurate, quick:

1. Create the Task in the Gantt View and add the resources.
2. Go to the the "Resource Usage" View
3. Right click on the right panel to show "Work" and "Actual Work"
4. For each resource, find the appropriate days of "Work"
5. Zero out incorrect amounts that Project entered automatically
6. Enter correct amounts in "Work"
7. Done.

Hi,

First, do use leveling, it is nonsence to use a software and not use part of
it.
Leveling has an option (see below in the leveling window) "Leveling can
adjust individual assignments on a task": check that off.
The parameter also exists on task level: insert the column "Level
Assignments"

Adding a bit to Jan. While your server may be available 24 hours a day and
so the 24-hour calendar is techincally correct, it actually can't be used
for the task unless the engineers are also present. Making sure that the
calendar for the server matches that of the mandatory second part of the
equation, if possible, makes the whole process easier.
