Multiple rows to single row

Abhay

I have Data which is like
a 1
a 2
a 3
b 1
b 2

This I would like to regroup this as following
a 1 2 3
b 1 2 and so on.
Issue is -
Number of times a .... appears is not fixed.
Number of unique ä,b in column is not fixed
All data is text only, as an example I used numbers here.
Help appreciated. Thanks.

Based on the variation in the data you describe I don't know whether a macro
will help or not. Depending on the amount of data it might be more trouble
to code the macro - but I'm not a programmer. Perhaps someone can offer
other options, but if the amount of data isn't huge this manual method will
get the job done. Using your example as a basis:

Select & copy the cells adjacent to the "a"s which contain the 2 & the 3, go
to the empty cell to the right of "a" "1" & use Edit> Paste Special -
Transpose, then select & Delete the rows/cells you copied from. Repeat the
process for the "b"s, "c"s, etc.

BTW - this is the Mac Excel group but I have the feeling you're using a PC
version & got here by mistake. In this case it doesn't matter but for some
issues the differences between the PC & Mac versions can be determinant. If
you are using a Windows box you might be better in one of the PC Excel
groups you'll find via this link:
