Multiple Shifts in workplace

I was wondering how companies manage projects that contain multiple shifts.

Do you create a standard calendar for EACH shift that works in the
organization OR does your standard calendar (hours available for work)
encompass all shifts.

Is it necessary to create a standard calender for each shift in the company?

Any assistance / response would be greatly appreciated...

Dear Ivor,

The easiet way, in my humble opnion (IMHO), would be to create mutiple
calendars and assign resorces to those calendars that fit their schedule or
shift.
