Multiple skills in a cube

E

Eric

Hi,

I have difficulty to integrate a "Skills" custom field in a cube. I have
created a custom field with the following specs :

- Entity : resource
- Type : Text
- Lookup table : List of skills...
- Allow multiple values to be selected (on)
- etc.

It works if I permit only one skills to be selected. Otherwise, the custom
field doesn't appear in the list of cube dimensions availabble.

Regards,
Eric

I believe that multi select fields cannot be used in the cube at this point
in time.

Hi Eric,

Jonathan is right. You are not able to use multivalue custom fields in the
cube. That has technical resons. Lets assume you have multi values in the
cube. The cube doesnt know how to distribute work or cost etc. Thats why you
can only have a single selection custom field in the OLAP cubes.

Further to this you can only have custom fields that have a lookup table or
are a flag. Any other custom field ( e.g. text field ) cannot be displayed in
the cube.

Hope this helps

Thank you guys for the answer. I thought there was an hotfix for that but I
guess I cannot add my skills field in a cube.

Do you have any suggestions to display a table with the ressources, their
team and their skills ? It doesn't work in a view because the skills field
is on one line with the values separeted with a semi-colon. Basically, I
want to do capacity management based on the employees availability and skills.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Eric,

You can alwasy gather this information in the Project Server Reporting DB.
You can use any sql reporting tool ( e.g. reporting services) to create your
own standard report.
I hope that helps
