Multiple Slide Masters (NOT Title Masters)

Hi all
Can anybody help me with this issue:

I have created a series of 5 Master Slides in Apple Keynote. When I
convert this file to PPT2004 it converts them to one Slide Master and
four Title Masters. The problem here is that my client may
(accidentally) move or delete elements on the Title Masters. We don't
want this to happen. Not being much of a PPT user, can anyone tell me
if it is possible to:

a) Convert my Title Masters to Slide Masters (so I will have 5 in
total)

b) Lock the elements on my Title Masters

Thanx in advance

It takes a relatively sophisticated user a deliberate act to delete anything on
a master. Are you sure you don't have four *slides* each based on the Title
master?

While you can't lock any content, stuff on the masters can't be selected
(edited/deleted/whatever) by the user while they're in normal view.

We don't

b) Lock the elements on my Title Masters

When I go to View>Master>Slide Master and I scroll down the window a
label appears for the top slide and says 'Slide Master'. The other
fours are labelled as 'Title Master'. When I create a slide based on
the 'Slide Master' only the text is editable (which is what I want).
When I create a slide from a 'Title Master' I can potentially change
everything.

All I want is for the user to be able to create slides based on one of
five masters and only be able to edit the text areas.

I'm confused why this isn't an obvious feature in PPT.

Thanks for your assistance Steve.

There might be something in the process of exporting from Keynote to PPT...

But anyway, if you really really want to make your slide design (ie: logo,
slide color...etc) almost unchangeable by the user, the best way is to set a
slide background image. Not many user know about this.

If the question is also about text box position, font settings etc... A user
can ALWAYS mess things up by deleting a text frame, reapplying a slide
master... Etc

Is your project extremely structured ? If so, what about using a database to
input things and create "designed" output?

BAM

Me too. Or rather I'm confused that you can edit anything but the text on
slides based on title masters.

I'd make a copy of the file and delete these Title Master fellas then create a
new one, set it up to your specs and then go to each of the title slides and
reapply the master.

I'm guessing that the conversion may also have created individual slides with
all of the title master content from Keynote. Try deleting everything but the
text then putting the stuff you want to keep on the title master.

If that makes no sense, blame it on a long day and late hours, tell me I'm
babbing again and I'll try it again in the AM. <g>

This is getting nuts. For various reasons that I won't bore you all
with, I can't follow any of your suggestions but thanks anyway.

According to official MSoft documentation there has been a facility to
have more than one SLIDE MASTER in Powerpoint, at least since Version
X. Conveniently, I can find no means or documentation on how to perform
this.

This is why I use Keynote.

You can't ADD new masters from within a PPT presentation but you can choose a
slide or slides (e.g. in the slide sorter) and use Format, Slide Design to
choose a master to apply to the selected slides. Once you've done that, you
can use View, Master, Slide Master to edit the individual masters.

I had the same problem and posted about it several weeks ago. Multiple
masters worked fine through X.1.6, and still works fine on the PC, but it
won't work any more in 2004.

I may call Microsoft and try to get an answer from them.
