Multiple slide orientations in 1 show

I have an automated slide show that has both portrait and landscape
orientations. I tried the online help suggestion already (which was to link
from one presentation to the other and then back again) but the issue with
that was that I didn't want to have to be sitting in front of the slide show
clicking with the mouse when it needed to switch (which is apparently a
requirement of that specific animation sequence). If there's an easier way
or if I'm missing something, please let me know. Thanks!

How are the presentations linked?
If you are doing it through hyperlinking (where there is a button to click
on, bringing you to the next presentation), then perhaps you want to try out
the invisible linking. For this, you will need to be in Kiosk mode (Slide
Show > Set Up Show) so that the mouse is always visible. Alternately, set
your mouse visible during slide show view.

Now for the invisble linking:
Remove the button which you have added.
Instead, add a rectangle that covers the entire slide.
Double click on the rectangle, set fill color to 99%. Line color to no line.
Click Ok.
Right click on the invisible autoshape, select Action Settings.
Select Mouse Over tab, set it Hyperlink to the Next Slide.

To make the mouse over work,
Click Add Effect > Entrance > Appear.
Set the Start from "On Click" to "After Previous".
Double click on the added effect.
Select Timing tab, set delay to 0.1 seconds or a time of your preference.
Click Ok.
