Multiple Textboxes on same page

Word/Office 2003 SP3
Epson scanner

I have scanned in a document that I need to have two (2) or three (3)
textboxes on one of the pages. I can do one textbox - no lines for borders
etc. but I can't seem to do a second one. I keep getting the first one to be
'redone/changed'. Even when I save the document and reopen it I get the same
'redo/change' request.

How can I put two or more textboxes per page - so as to blank out what is
already printed on the scanned in page?

Have you set the layout property of the scanned image to 'behind text'?

I don't see the option to set the layout 'behind text'. Once I establish the
FIRST textbox each attempt to setup a SECOND textbox removes the FIRST
textbox. So I'm left with only the ability to have a single textbox on the
page. (I have a four (4) page scanned in document.)
How am I able to set the layout property to 'behind text' if I can't even
retain the first textbox?
Maybe I'm missing something here.

What you are missing is that the scanned image is a graphic, and it is this
graphic that needs its layout property set to behind text. Select the
graphic (if necessary using the white pointer on the drawing toolbar to
select it) then format > picture > layout.

With the graphic behind text you can insert text boxes over it.
