Multiple users in an Access 2000 DB

When more than one user opens the same database to make
entries, the first user to get in can save his/her updates
in the tables or forms windows. The second user gets a
message saying they are not allowed access to the db. So
anything they have entered is wasted.

It appears as though the db we created in Access will only
allow one user to enter and save any data, during any
given session.

Am I missing something here, or does Access 2000 only
allow single user sessions?

Access can open DB in Exclusive mode or Shared mode. It sound like its
being opened exclusively by users. I'm not sure if this property is saved
in the DB or the client.

look under tools/options/advanced tab (thats where it is in 2000)
