Multiple WSS Instances

We have one server with three Project server instances using three separate
databases - standard EditSite stuff. I'm wondering if it is possible to have
three separate instance of WSS to go with each of our Project Server
Instances. We need to have it all sitting on one computer. One idea is to
configure 3 different web sites, each for a separate WSS instance. Would
that work? Any other configuration suggestions?

Here we have one WSS server hosting a configuration database supporting 3
different virtual servers. One of the virtual servers supports a Project
Server instance holding the risk/issues WSS content database for Project
Server. So, you can do it.......through segmentation of virtual servers.
