MultiSelect list box or just Check boxes???

Hi I just cannot see which way is best to go MultiSect box or just have check
boxes?? I need to Check In & Out sets of items, I have tried the MultiSelect
list box but that doesn't seem to store any where to state whether the items
are check In or out? And because there are quite a few items to one set of
patterns it would mean a lot of check boxes on the form? Can any body point
me in the right direction please

STOP.

You're evidently starting your design with a Form. That's like building a
house by putting the frame together... before you've poured the foundations!

Data is stored in tables, and ONLY in tables. Get your tables right first and
*then* start looking at forms! You'll need at least three tables: Items;
People (who is checking stuff out); and Checkouts, with a link to the table of
people and a link to the table of items, probably with a couple of date/time
fields indicating when the item was checked out and back in. Typically you
would use a Form with a Subform (not a listbox OR checkboxes) to enter the
data.

Hi John thanks for your help I think I shall go as you have advised I have
just blinded myself with wanting a Multiselect list box but it is not going
to do what I need it to do so I shall go with the Check boxes. Although it
would be good if the Check Boxes could be hidden until requested, such as if
I have a Check box to check ALL items (keeping the other check boxes hidden)
and another Check box to request individual items? Do you think this is
possible??

Please reread my message.

You do NOT want a multiselect listbox.
You *REALLY* do not want checkboxes on a form.

Yes, yes, you can do either; it'd be about 30 lines of VBA for the listbox,
and more for the checkboxes, and you'ld need to restructure your form and
revise your VBA code whenever you have a new or change item in the list.

USE A SUBFORM. It really does work.
