Music in Powerpoint

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Recently, all of my saved Powerpoint presentations lost their music files. Instead of the usual icon being there, there is the speaker with a question mark beside it. When I run a presentation, I click on the icon and no music plays. This is really frustrating... help!

You don't say what type of files the "music" is, but only .wav are able to
be embedded in a PPt presentation. Other sound files are linked, so my guess
is that you've moved either the sound files or the presentation files. As a
result the links are broken.

If that's not the case you'll need to be far more descriptive... Without
details & specific information it's hard to say what might be wrong.

Try going to the PP Preferences "General" section and change the "link
sounds with file size greater" (100 kb is the default) to something greater
than your music file, i.e., 6.5 mb becomes 6500 or 7000. Keep the music
files in the same folder that you keep the PowerPoint so you don't lose the
link.

This is good advice, and after you change the settings, you must delete and
insert the sounds again. Additionally, that setting only applies to WAV
files. All other sound files are linked. Because of that, you want to follow
Susan's second piece of advice about putting the sounds in the same folder
as your PowerPoint presentation before inserting them.
