Music in PPT

I have received a power point presentation which has supposedly has music
associated with the show. It was created in a Windows environment and can¹t
hear a thing running the show in my Powerbook G4. Is there anything special
I need to do to hear the music in my MacOffice Powerpoint version?
Your hints a very much appreciated.

I use PPT 2004. Either the files aren't linked or they are in a format
that Mac PPT can't use.

It's a huge deficiency with the program. I did a presentation on Mac and
used .aiff files. PCs, I found out later, (no help from Microsoft) can't
read those. Client converted them on his PC to mp3, then they played on
PC. Returned converted files to me, but Mac PPT can't play the file with
mp3s. Go figure.

I learned up here (thank goodness for this group) that the only tried
and true format for cross platform audio is a .wav file.

I use mono wav files to keep the file size down.

This is an addendum to my garbled post from earlier this morning. What I
really need is advice or comments in regard to the capability of MacOffice X
PowerPoint to utilize music files that are apparently integrated in a
PowerPoint slide show (in .pps format) without explicitly showing a
specific music file. This .pps file was apparently created in a Windows
environment of most recent vintage. A friend using an older windows Power
Point application has no trouble hearing the music whereas I can not with my
Office:Mac MacOSX application Version 10.1.6 (2001). Where can I find
pertinent information about this issue?

Garbled? Naw, it was fine. Have a look here (and you may need to get your
Win-using friend to do the same)

Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or email
a presentation
