Music with slide show?

I've figured out how to apply music to a slide and I'm sure there's a way to
put a soundtrack behind a full slide who but I can't find it.

If you mean that you want the sound to play through multiple slides,
Control-click the speaker icon on the slide, and then select "Custom
Animation" from the contextual menu. Click "Effect Options", and then click
the "Media Options" tab. Choose to stop playing after 999 slides, and click
OK.
