Must I update my Office 2000 things if I've upgraded to Office XP?

When I go to Microsoft Updates and my system is checked to see if I need any
updates, a list of updates to Office 2000 comes up. I assume it's because
2000 is my base Office system to which I have upgraded to Office XP
Professional. Seems like the XP Pro should have taken care of any updates
that I would have needed on my 2000 system. Do I need to perform updates to
Office 2000 items?

Hi A.K.,

The updates for each version may share some files, but in general they're separately focused, so yes, if you want to have all of
your installed applications to be current you'd need the updates for each version.

If you no longer need the Office 2000 apps you can remove them through Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel. (Office XP
would only remove what it had replacements for and Office 2000 had more features and applets than later versions).

Thanks! I think that makes sense. I just did not want to be unnecessarily
updating 2000, but it sounds like I should just keep doing so. No need trying
to keep track of things by removing 2000 and possibly losing some components.

I appreciate the response.

Lauri
