My grandson recently downloaded a program which corrupted
several ActiveX files. I used a pc rescue program to try
and clean up the mess, and now none of the ActiveX
components or controls work in Access. This was Access
2000 and I researched all the support files at MS Office
Support and tried all the recommendations, but no luck.
So, I uninstalled Office XP Pro, purchased Office 2003
and did a new install. This did not solve the problem,
the ActiveX components don't work in Access 2003 either.
This seems to be only an Access problem, because I can
use the ActiveX controls in Excel.

I am desperate to fix this problem as I have a serious
deadline to complete a database in the next few days.

PLEASE HELP!!!

TIA,
Sandra

A son is bad enough, let alone a grandson!

Unfortunately, by installing Access2003 whereas you previously had Access2000,
it is possible that you have made the situation even worse! Because ActiveX
controls can vary between versions, also because Access itself varies betwen
versions so there is no guarantee your Access2000 program works in Access2003
without trialling it and fixing up any errors arising.

However, let's assume you eventually want to run Access2003 (which seems
reasonable, since it's the current)

Go into any code module, Debug, Compile. Can you compile the Access code?
Go into any code module, Tools, References. Are any of them marked as missing?
(this is where you set references to ActiveX controls)

Can you list precisely what ActiveX controls you need, and why you need them?
If you can't, then find someone who can.
I am desperate to fix this problem as I have a serious
deadline to complete a database in the next few days.
That sounds like you are an experienced Access Developer. What version is this
database SUPPOSED to be in? Why are you using ActiveX controls? (most
developers avoid them for exactly reasons like this). Your fastest option
would be to obtain a virgin PC (I have diverted some
understanding(unsuspecting!) customer's PC's for that purpose) and proceed
unbaggaged!!! (after all, presumably it needs to install on other PC's if you
have a deadline to "deliver". Less Haste, More Speed. More Detail)
deadline to complete a database in the next few days.
No-one does that. Do you mean a first-demo to get out? NO-ONE creates a
database in a few days, they then take months of bug-fixings/refinements. Just
say you or your son or your grandson is sick! (ie don't let the bastards get
to you)

This was Access 2000...
So, I uninstalled Office XP Pro,
purchased Office 2003

I didn't realise it was THREE versions all mixed-up.
Do you see why I suggest "take a breather". Decide on a version for starters:
they are not all the same product at all.

Regards
Chris
