My Big New Hard Drive

came with Maxblast software. I should have known better. During
installation a slew of files are installed but the first one flew past called:

X/alphanumeric/XXX

the X's went by too fast for me to read and the alphanumeric was quick
gobbledygook. Since it wasn't going into the directory that i gave it i am
now suspicious that i have inadvertently given this software root access. By
the way the drive is a 200 GB Maxtor and it was to be a slave so it only
needed formatting. The instructions that came with the drive said don't use
Windows to format or fdisk. I'll put the question to Maxtor too but I
thought the community might want to know about this.

I'd suggest asking in a newsgroup related to Windows Hardware.

This newsgroup is for questions related to security for Access, the database
product that's part of Office Professional.
