My computer freezes daily since installing Service Pack 2- Help!

Every day, at least once, since installing SP2, my computer completely
freezes, and I have to do a forced quit- no "Control-Alt-delete" will work-
it's gone.

This never happened before, and of course, I can't get through to any MS
person to ask, since they want me to install yet another program to ask the
Q- a program that MS itself recommends against installing. I'm stymied.

What do they (MS?) want you to install?
