My computer is missing a windows installer patch file (.msp)

Please help me. When I tried to scan my Office 2000 for updates I received a
message that it couldn't scan because I was missing a windows installer patch
file (.msp) from previous applied updates. I tried going back to various
rrestore points but that didn't help the file was still missing. Does anyone
know exactly the file I need and where to find. I was on Microsoft Office
site but could not find.
