My copy of Office did not pass validation ?????

S

SLRebel

Why am I all of a sudden getting an annoying pop-up window saying my copy of
Office did not pass validation when I bought it pre-loaded on my Dell machine
almost two years ago?

He said he "bought it" pre-loaded on the machine two years ago. So, a trial
copy lasts two years?

: Most likely because the Trial of Office that was installed expired

I did not buy a trial copy of Office. I purchased a regular/full copy of
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 that was pre-loaded on the system
before delivery. The "trial copy" story seems to be the standard response to
EVERY post I've seen about this issue. In addition, this annoying pop-up has
only happened in Word.

Microsoft are you listening?? I am trying to run a business here with all
legit copies of MS products and the latest auto update installed this virus
for lack of a better word. I did not buy illegal software, now my computer
and my employees computers are getting the message that the software is not
valid. Un-installing and re-installing the software is not a good or
professional option. Fix this mess now and yes I am pissed. You try to do
the right thing on the up and up and now in addition to running my business I
have to deal with this crap. Write a fix now or put a non buggy OGGAAddin
whatever out there of the general public. If bill gates (lower case
intended) gets this error message then I am sure the powers in Redmond would
be all over it.

Gateway,Dell,Micron are known it install Office which is a Trial which lasts as long
as the OS is not reformatted for a new install

Only happens with Word? Well then try the following and see what happens.
Do a find for normal.dot and rename it to normal.old

Reboot and open Word. Does the issue still persists?

If this is the case, then I am truly hacked off at Dell. When we purchase
machines from Dell, it says NOTHING about buying a "trial version" of Office.
My computer has not been "re-formatted for a new install, so I am curious
about what is causing the problem.

After re-booting this morning, the annoying b.s. pop-up also happened when
launching Outlook.

I have same problem. Microsoft says before downloading a message appears
authorizing download of this validation but NOT TRUE. They also say it can't
be removed by ass/remove program. Does anone who has this problem try to do
system restore....will that work?

What newsgroup are you suggesting because i've been to Microsoft validation
link and all they do is advertise to buy their program.....hmmm. Isn't that
interesting!!!

Please be specific as to a link we can all chat to Microsoft about this!
They snuck it into download and then try to sell you their product!

Sorry Peter, but you were wrong. Just had a long online chat with Dell and
confirmed by software is NOT a trial version. This is a HUGE snowballing
problem for Dell (and Gateway, HP, etc.) to workout with Microsoft. It's
getting ugly soon and Microsoft is going to have to patch their update.
