My copy of PowerPoint 2001 seems to have lost its Insert menu?

Subject line says it all: My copy of PowerPoint on a Mac iBook, OS
9.2.2, Mac Office 2001, seems to have entirely lost its Insert menu.

I managed to install a button for the Insert Picture from File command
in the Common Tasks palette/toolbar and am able to use that (though I
haven't figured out how to get a button like this to appear on its own
individual line in the Common Tasks palette, or to get it to show a name
-- it always appears on the same line as some other command, either
before or after it, which is confusing).

How do I get the Insert menu back?

Try View, Toolbars, Customize. In the Customize dialog box, click the
Toolbars tab. Click the toolbar you want to work with and click Reset. In
this case, you'd want to choose Menu Bar.
