My curser jumps back several words while I'm typing

While I'm typing (whether an email, a document in Word, or filling out a form
on some website) I can type normally for a while; but it I'm not looking at
the screen, I'll find I've jumped to another line, or a couple of letters
back. Even as I'm typing this, it's happened once.

Very frustrating

I've thought that at times. Then I become attentive to just letting the tips
of my fingers touch the keyboard at all - and then, it happens again.
(didn't happen right then though)

It's not an Office option, try the BIOS and disable it there. See the
manual for your laptop, or check with tech support for your laptop.

When I encountered this issue on my old laptop there was an option to
disable the touchpad when an external mouse was present. Check the
Properties for your Touch Pad and see if you find anything similar.

Hi Britt,
My new computer did this too and it was very frustrating. I was able to fix
this by going into the mouse properties and disabling the tap while typing
feature. To do this, look for the icon on the bottom of my screen that looks
like the touch screen (the little square that you use as a mouse). Click on
that and go into the tapping section. Look for something that turns the tap
off while typing. This did the trick for me. Good luck!

I have Windows XP on my Dell Inspiropn 8100 laptop. While typing in any word
processing program or email program, the cursor will "jump" back to an
earlier line while I am typing and begin to enter the letters in the middle
of something I had previously typed. Since I do not always look at the screen
while I am typing, I get very frustrated to find that, when I do look up, I
have to figure out what I have to cut and paste back to the end of the
document...it is a great time-wasting and frustrating "glitch"! Any ideas on
what is causing this and how to fix it?
