My cursor has gone haywire since installing SP2

After installing XP SP2, I can be typing and all of a
sudden the cursor disappears. I can bring it back by
clicking at the point where it (it just did it again)
disappears, but then after several more words or
sentences, it disappears again.

Are you talking about the cursor (the blinking vertical line that indicates
your insertion point) or the mouse pointer?

The blinking (no pun intended) vertical line that
indicates the insertion point.

This could be a display issue. You could try updating the display driver or
turning down hardware acceleration.

I could not find a display driver update, so I tried
turning down the acceleration. That did not stop
the "disappearing" cursor problem. It worked just fine
before I installed XP SP2. Should I try to uninstall SP2?

Correction! I did find a display driver update, and that
appears to have solved the problem with the "disappearing"
