My document doesn't print like I see it on the screen

In Publisher 2003 I have used 3 different color printers and get the same
results. A fill color in my document prints out with a check like pattern.
Sometimes gradients don't print at all. It looks smooth solid and clean on my
screen, but always prints with that faint little pattern. Any body have the
solution?

Transparency does not work well with Publisher, however there is a workaround.
Right-click the gradient object, click save as picture, select the .png format,
the resolution is up to you. Re-insert the picture into your publication. It
should print better.
