My Drop-down menus are not all working

About 6 months ago or so my File menu stopped responding. I tried running a
troubleshooter and re-installing the application from the disk but it didn't
fix the problem. Then my Tools menu stopped working and today I'm now having
trouble with my mailmerge toolbar. I have Norton 360 Premier installed. It
registers no viruses. Any suggestions?
