My E-mail Disappeared

I have a root folder and subfolders within the root folder. I meant to move
an e-mail from one subfolder to another subfolder, but inadvertently moved
the e-mail to the root folder.

And the e-mail disappeared. What happened? How can I get the e-mail back?

I am running Outlook 2007 on an XP SP2 operating system.

Assuming that you accidently moved the item to the same folder that shows
you the "Outlook Today" page, then all you have to do is turn off this Home
page. To do this, right click on the folder that is named Personal Folders
(or Mailbox - <username> if working with an Exchange account) and select
properties. Go to the Home Page tab and uncheck the box at the top.
