My email is locked

Hi,

I have Outlook 2003. When downloading the email, they all come in with
locks on them. I can't delete them, move them or do anything with them. In
the Send/Receive settings, I have "Download complete item including
attachments" checked but Outlook only downloads the headers.

This is something I have never seen before. The numbers beside the inbox
favorite folders are counting down. What is it doing?

Thank you!

Theresa

Marley is danging his long chain with locks when e-mail arrives in
Outlook? So what are "locks" so the rest of use know what you are
talking about?

There are only a few "locks" that I can think of. One is your login
credentials to your account with an unidentified e-mail provider.
Another is a password that you enabled on your message store in Outlook
(i.e., in the .pst file). Another is when working inside a corporate
network that uses both Exchange and a Rights Management Server to let
the sender add further control to their e-mails.

And are the numbers also counting down in the real Inbox folder(s) in
the tree(s) shown for your message store(s)? Have you looked at the
rules that you defined in Outlook? Or at what view you are using on the
affected folder(s)?

Do you mean the icon for the message contains a lock? It is blue? That's an
indication that the message is encrypted, but it shouldn't affect your ability
to manipulate the message. When you try to move or delete them, exactly what
happens? Do you see any error messages?
