My EPM is slow, how to migrate old projects?

Hello,

Our Database has a lot of projects (aprox. 2700), and the access is getting
slower. Wich would be the best (or less traumatic) way to split my database,
in a way I could separate old projects from recent ones? My idea is to have
another database for old projects, that would be used just in case.

Best Regards

MS Project EPM involve different components SQL, IIS, Sharepoint, Analysis
Services, Project runnign on top of OS.

Each component (above) in EPM has its own performance tuning methods. Server
hardware resources also play a vital part.

You can split up the EPM on to different servers for better performance. If
cost is the factor, then you can archive the completed projects.

The problem is in the SQL Server.

How does the archiving that you mentioned works?

Thanks

- Make a backup of your existing database first.

- Check this article from Dale/Gary site:
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/ArchiveCompletedProjects.htm

It will hide the projects from the list.

- You can use the 'Clean up Project Server database' in PWA > Admin to
remove old completed projects.

Other experts' opinions on this topic?

Thanks! This idea is nice, but due to the number of projects we have, I must
find a way to automatically add the projects to new category (maybe a
script). According to our developers, this function exists.

Any other opinion to improve my performance would be nice.
