My Excel documents are blank...

When I try to open any of my .xls files on my desktop & ones that have been
sent to me over my outlook account, they come up blank. but when I go to the
Program itself & open one of my .xls reports it opens. Excel seems to be the
only Microsoft Office element of the program doing this. I already rebooted
my PC but I just don't understand why it would do this. I'm I just missing
the obvious or what? Do you think that the Office program being 2000 has any
effect on it? It is running on a XP Operating Sys.
