My excel is messed up. Someone please help me

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.0 (Cheetah) When I enter a formula into C7 such as =C5-C3 then drag this to the next cell, the formula becomes =D5-D3 but it gives me the same total as C7 even if the numbers don't compute that way. How can I get my Excel back to normal?

check Excel>preferences>calculation
make sure that calculate manually is not selected
