my footer is too large

Hi,

The footer in my document is huge! This is causing the page number to be
about 3 inches from the bottom of the page. I have checked page set up and
the header and footer are both set to 0.5. The header box looks fine. Any
suggestions? Thanks.

Turn on Show Non-Printing Characters (the paragraph-symbol button) and
delete all the unnecessary paragraphs that have snuck in.

Display nonprinting characters and see if there are extra empty paragraphs
in your footer.
