My hyperlinks to other documents don't work in Word 2003

I have an employee handbook that I created in Word 2000 and have inserted
hyperlinks to a number of other documents. Just upgraded to Word 2003. Now,
none of my hyperlinks work, even when I re-insert a hyperlink. I've already
checked the AutoFormat as You Type in the Tools menu. Can someone help?
