My keyboard is non-responsive in Word 2004

My keyboard no longer responds with a new document or an existing document in Word 2004. The keyboard works fine in all other programs. I can push any keys I choose, but no typing on the document occurs. The mouse works fine. The programs was working fine several days ago, and now it does not.

I went and completely uninstalled all of the Office programs, reinstalled my Office:2004 CD and downloaded/installed the updates. I am now running Word 11.3.8.

What else can I do? is there a setting that needs to be changed? Is there a file somewhere that is corrupt? I am at a total loss with Word and can not use this program now.

Is the cursor moving? It's possible that you might be typing in white
text--highlight the document and see if anything shows up. In Word |
Preferences | View, also make sure "hidden text" is checked in case you
are typing in hidden text somehow.

Diagnostic tricks to help locate the cause of the problem:

1) Log out of your user account, then hold down shift while logging back
in. If the problem disappears, it is probably due to some conflict with
the login items/utilities in your user account.

2) create a new user account in OS X and test in that one. If the
problem disappears, then the installation is fine but some user-specific
file has corrupted.

Thank you for the suggestions, however they did not work for me. The cursor is blinking at a steady rate, like it always does. When I begin to type though, it does not respond or move. I have turned on the "hidden text" option and checked to make sure the the type is not in white.

I tried the idea to login with the shift key. Nothing helped there. I also created a test user account. That did not work either.

I have no clue as to why this is happening. The other Office programs work just fine. Word starts up normally and look good, but the keyboard is totally non-responsive.

Any other ideas. Thanks again for the help.
