My keyboard types the wrong character

In word, when I type shift+question mark (which should result in a question
mark appearing on the page), I instead get this: É. Please help.
Thanks very much,

You have the incorrect Keyboard selected in Regional settings in Windows
Control Panel.

"English Canada" is selected - am not sure how this could be causing the
problem. Any suggestions?

Hold down the [Ctrl] + [Shift] keys and count to six.
Release and check the keyboard.

Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you! You've saved my sanity - and an awful lot
of my time. Again, thanks!

Thanks! I had this problem too, and the [ctrl] + [shift] didn`t work the
first or second time, but eventually I just held it down for a good 12
seconds, and it worked! Don't know why this happens occasionally, but now I
know how to fix it!

In Vista, Go to the Control Panel and select Ease of Access Centre, then
choose Make the Keyboard Easier to Use. Clear the checkbox against Turn on
Toggle Keys by holding down the Num Lock key for 5 seconds and press APPLY.

None of the above worked for me, but I pressed the ALT key in combination
with Shift or Ctrl and that worked. Not sure exactly which combination, and
I`d rather not tempt fate by trying to reproduce the problem to figure out
which it was.

I have windows 7, word 2007. I have tried everything above. I still get the
french letters for the question mark comma, etc. I have held every
combination of the various buttons, have US english in the language control,
tried the toggle suggestion. Still can't get a question mark. Any other
suggestions?

Are you sure you have a US keyboard selected in the Regional and Language
settings in Control Panel?
