My main menubar has disappeared. How do I display it again?

I opened Word today and the File-Edit-etc. menubar and all other toolbars
have vanished. (I was not the last person to use Word; it was a kid, but
they claim no knowledge.) All I have are the rulers. I tried Ctrl-V to pull
up the invisible View menu, but that didn't work. How do I get the menu and
toolbars back?
