my menus and toolbars are gone!--someone help!

I opened an old document today and none of the menus, nor toolbars are there.
I can't access help because I can't find the menu....It happens with every
document I open....so I can't figure out how to fix it. Please help me!!!

Why not have a look at today's posts in this newsgroup? There's a thread
called " I've lost menus items-Edit, View...", and JE McGimpsey posted the
following solution:

What Michel Bintener said . Unless you're in Word 2001 (you should have
told us). In that case, toss out your Word preferences file. More details
