The product key on the bottom of the laptop case is probably for
Windows XP, not for Office 2003. When the trial version of
Office 2003 expires, you must purchase the software if you wish
to continue to use it.

Some trial versions can be converted to perpetual versions by
starting Word and clicking on Help | Activate Product | Convert.
You will be prompted to enter your credit card information and
contact information. The full purchase price of the Office 2003
edition will be charged to your credit card, and a product key
will be emailed to you.

Some trial versions cannot be converted to perpetual versions.
If you do not see a Convert option when you start Word and click
on Help | Activate Product, then yours is one of the
non-convertable versions. You can purchase a copy of Office 2003
from your favorite conventional or online retailer. Be sure to
uninstall the trial version of Office 2003 from your computer
before you attempt to install your purchased version of Office
2003.
