my microsoft word 2002 will not open properly ...

when i openword 2002 from a desktop icon or any other way, it is slow and
opens to white page, and freezes for a short while.then when i click on it a
few times , finally it will go to word page and freezes again .
eventually i can get it open. when i try to close it takes about a minute to
close.
it is very unstable, can any one help

this newsgroup is dedicated to Microsoft Access relational database
