My name shows up in summary tasks as status manager for otherpeople's projects

I'm not sure if the PM in question used a Macro (as they were supposed
to) that I placed out in Global or used a template, but when I open
their project up (as the Admin), I notice that my name is on every
summary task as Status Manager (including the project level summary)
whereas their name is on all tasks/assignments.

1. How could this have happened - even if they used a Global Macro?

2. Is there any harm in this? Assignments should still show up in
My Tasks correctly I would imagine.

3. Would there be a problem if I left (not that I plan to) and my
userid was either deleted or inactivated?

4. Would the answer to ? #3 depend on whether the userid was deleted
or inactivated?

Thanks,

Hello Andy,

1. What does your macro do? What all updates have you installed on Project
Server?
This generally happens if the PM used a template you created and saved to
the server. This is a known problem and gets fixed in one of the updates. I
am not sure if it is SP1 or Infrastructure Update.

2. No this will not affect the new tasks created by the PM, but if the
template has preexisting tasks and resources are assigned to these tasks
then the updates will come to you for approval rather than the PM. The PM
can manually change this or you can write a macro to change this. This who
thing will not affect the tasks shown in the My Task page but it will affect
the approval process

3. I am not sure about this, but generally I have seen weird behavior if you
delete a resource who has been assigned a task but has not completed it. We
generally make sure all the tasks are reassigned before we delete an account
in AD. We generally deactivate an account and leave it at that, we have not
had any problems after we deactivate an account. Someone else can confirm
this point

4. This happens if you delete a resource. If you deactivate an account
everything should be fine.

Hope that answers your questions, let us know if you need anything else.

Regards,
Dave

What if I have no assignments but am Status Manager in summary tasks
and I'm either inactivated or deleted?

The macro simply sets the summary task on, sets the FY, and enters a
standard SDLC task list (Requirements, Design, Coding, Testing,
Deployment), adds resources to the team but does not assign anyone.

Thanks,
Andy

Andy:

This is an odd, non-troublesome behavior inherent in the system. You'll note
that whoever first publishes the project remains as the status manager for
summary tasks, which has no effect in the system.

Gary,

Is there any way to stop getting task approvals (on the Applied Task Update
Requests and Errors page) for a project where you were the original Status
Manager? I recently published a schedule for a PM and even after he became
the Status Manager I still get a record of all of his updating approvals.

Gary,

When I view the "Applied Tasks and Errors" page I see all of the updates he
applies to his schedule mixed in with the updates I applied to schedules I
manage.
