My normal word document is set in italics.

When Word opens it is automatically in italics. NewTimes Roman is the default

particular the part about changing the default font. If you can't do this,
check to make sure that TNR Regular is still installed.

The TNR Regular is no longer there. Also
Arial another font I use regularly does not have the Regular option. I have
reloaded word and changed my normal.dot, but it has not helped.

You'll probably need to reload the fonts from your Office CD.

I went into the Microsoft office CD and found only 3 fonts that could be
installed. When I tried to install them it said they were already installed.
Can you give me detailed info on how to reinstall them? Thanks.

You don't say what version of Office you have, but usually there are at
least a couple of blocks of fonts to be installed. You should also be able
to find both TNR and Arial (which are both Windows core fonts) on your
Windows CD.

Someone in the microsoft.public.word.printingfonts NG might be able to
