My old excel workbooks do not open correctly in Excel X

Please help!

I just upgraded to Office X (OS X) from Office 98 (OS 9.2) on my
new G4.

None of my old workbooks are opening correctly. They are
opening all stretched out and funky. They used to be one page
sheets now they are all stretched out onto like 6 pages.

Is this an Excel setting or something? I need to fix it because I
used several years worth of old workbooks on a regular basis
and to sit and reformat all of them will make me crazy.

Please help!!!

Try trashing the preferences. (User
folder---Library---Preferences--Microsoft--Excel Settings)
