My page banner on my index page repeats on all other pages.

Are you using shared borders? It sounds like your index page banner is
in a shared border area - this will be visible on all pages using this
shared border. If this is the case, either remove the shared border
from your index page, or remove shared borders from all pages, or move
the banner out of the shared border to another position on the page.

A link to a faulty page will help diagnose problems.
