My Question Not Grouped with Others on Pivot Tables

ExcelPeter218

I recently posted a question about Pivot Tables subject "Grand Totals for
Pivot Tables". When I search for Pivot, or Pivot Table, or Pivot Tables it
is not found.
I can find it if I search for "ExcelPeter218".

It is in: "Microsoft.public.excel.misc" I assume this is the discussion group.

How can I get it to show up with the other Pivot table questions.

Thanks.

No idea what you're doing to search. This is a newsgroup, though it
appears you're accessing it through an MS web portal. I've never used
it, so I'm afraid I'm no help there.

But you can certainly find it using GoogleGroups:

No, this is the microsoft.public.mac.office.excel newsgroup, for Mac XL
questions.

Again, don't know about your particular interface, but your post shows
up in Google Groups just fine.

That's not how newsgroups work:) Messages are like conversations where one
person asks a question then others reply with answers/suggestions within the
same "thread". The messages are not grouped with similar topics. How they
are presented to you depends on the capabilities of the software you're
using to access the newsgroup. Most web interfaces don't provide much - if
any - ability to sort/arrange message to suit your specific preferences. To
do so you need to use newsreader software.

However, I just did a search coming in through the MS Discussions site using
"pivot table" as the search criteria & your post was right at the top of a
list of about 12 hits. Using Google - same criteria, sort by date - yours
was second... but it depends which group you search.

I'm guessing - since you mention Excel 2007 but you're now in a Mac forum -
that you've been searching in the wrong group. There are about 12 different
Excel groups - understandably confusing if you're new to the Community - but
it's up to the user to recall which one he posts to.
