my reading pane wont turn on

i go into my settings and set my reading pane to bottom, but it does not show?
I have tried turning entire computer off and it still wont work i have put
the reading pane to the right wont work put it off and turn it back on but
still nothing comes of it?

Make sure you have click on the Inbox, otherwise it will not let you click on
anything. May also want to try a new profile or deleting the account and
adding it again.
