'My recent documents - word, excel etc'

Hello !. Your point of view would be much appreciated,
thanks !


Set-up:

Office 2003 Pro, all patches and XP Pro, all patches

Hardware:

Dell D600, physical memory 512, free resources, 270+
physical memory (via task manager). Its all new kit.

Scenario:

Opening 'my recent documents' brings up the following error

"..An unexpected error. Not enough memory available to
complete the operation. Close other programs to make more
memory available and then try again..."

Additional comments:

The problem does not occur every time, just most of the
time

Please help me clarify followings:

" Can you reproduce this issue when launching Word or Excel?
" Can you reproduce this issue when launching Word in Safe Mode?
" Have you installed any third-party real-time program or service?
" Can you reproduce this issue when logging on the computer as another user?

If the issue persists when launching in Safe Mode, I would like offer you
some suggestions:

1. Update anti-virus, and scan the whole hard disk for virus.
2. Disable any anti-virus plug-in for Office.
3. Perform a clean boot on the computer. For your reference: 310353 How to
