my replys display as very small x's

When I reply to an email, or create a new email, the text is extremely small
and the characters are all "x"s

Not sure what you mean exactly so I'll throw a lot out there. I have outlook
2003 with Biz manager - email comes from pop.earthlink - XP. It's worked
great up until today - not sure what happened... recieve emails correctly,
set up as HTML.

That sort of things indeed. Do you use Word or Outlook as the e-mail editor?
Does it make a difference what message format the original message is in?
HTML, Plain Text, Rich Text?
