My tasks - task do not disappear

Hana

Hi, my queation might be pretty obvious, but I really did not find the answer
anywhere. Using Project Server 2007. In section My tasks the task do not
disappear form the list although they are finished 100%, actualization is
approved and I even tried to open the project and publish it with changes.
Still the task does not disapear . Layout option "Only actual" does not
change anything. Can youu please tell me when the task disappears from the
list?
Thank you so much.

Hi Hana,

When the "show only current tasks" selection is active, the my tasks -view
will show you all tasks that
a) fall within the "current" window defined in project server settings
(default is +/- 5 days)
or
b) are not 100% complete and the finish date has passed

So your 100% complete assignments should drop off the task list 5 (by
default) days after they have been completed (which gets logged to the task
as the actual finish date). They will remain on the list when you deselect
"show current tasks only" as long as the assignments remain with a committed
allocation.

This does mean that over time, if nothing is done to archive completed
projects, the my tasks view will become unusable in any other mode than "show
only current tasks". A common practice for when a project is completed is for
the project managers to set the resource allocation type as proposed for the
project, which cleans up assignments for the resources from the my tasks view.

Hope that helps,
- Jussi

Hanna,
We used Ben Howard's recommendation in a previously posted Q&A on this site:
In MS Project, insert the Publish column
Set the field to No where the task is 100% complete
Save and publish the plan and check it back into the project center

100% complete tasks then disappear (hide) on the Team Member's My Tasks page.
