Just upgraded to Office 2008 and my Entourage performance has become deathly slow. Every so often, and this appears to be random, there is some kind of updating going on. If I open the progress window I can see Send & Receive running, and that seems to function fine. But I also see Inbox Being Updated, Sent Items Being Updated, Deleted Items Being updated, etc. even if I haven't sent or received anything and this is where Entourage freezes until this process completes. I'm unable to type in Entourage or even switch between windows or select dialogue box buttons. I have to wait for the spinning beach ball to finish.
I have two theories: One, I need more memory. Currently I have 512MB. I don't like this one because, come on, this is an e-mail program. How much memory does it need?
Two, there is something going on on our Exchange server that needs to be configured differently.
I've also considered that my Inbox is a bit full, but I archived almost a year's worth of data out of my Inbox and it made no difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
