MY WEBSITE IS PUBLISHED BUT MY EMAIL REPLY FORM WILL NOT WORK.

H

Harlon L.

I have published a website using Microsoft Publisher. My email reply form was
not working until my web server made some corrections on his end. I updated
my website, now the email reply form does not work. The web server says that
everything is O.K. on his end. Help!

In your Publisher file put your name, email address or click here; whatever
your prefer.

Something like To write to Harlon click here.

Now whatever you want to link to Harlon, or here or even an image, capture
the word or image with the mouse.

Now, select Insert, Hyperlink and in the box type mailto:youremailaddress
Save as a webpage and upload the new files.

Sounds like your host installed the FrontPage server extensions (FPSE), and
then you used FTP to upload your revisions, which corrupted the
extensions...means your forms won't work. You need to use http uploading,
not ftp when you are using forms.

There is an article about three down on this page about forms:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/default.aspx

And follow this link for articles about publishing your site correctly:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/articles/category/1921.aspx

Then after you understand how to use http uploading, contact your host and
ask them to reinstall the FPSE, and use only http uploading in the future.

David,

I have read through your article 'How to publish a Publisher web in HTTP'
but it does not apply to Publisher 2000 as it does not have a 'Web tab' under
Tools menu/Options.

Therefore how can users of Publisher 2000 upload by HTTP?

Any help appreciated
Regards,
Laura

Laura,

The articles are written by David Bartosik MVP, not me. He is the resident
expert, while the rest of us just help out as we can, and usually by
referencing one of his articles or posts.

The articles on publishing are assuming that you are using Pub 2003 and
Windows XP. Pub 2000 does not have a Web tab, so that part of the
instructions is not relevant to you or uploading your website files. If you
are using Windows XP operating system then the rest of the instructions on
how to upload using HTTP protocol would still apply, I think... However if
you are using an older OS, then you might want to use "web folders". Here is
an article about uploading Pub 2000 files using web folders:

the articles on my site apply to 2000, 2002, 2003. When that is not the case
I specify versions on the article. However the interfaces may defer between
versions. It's the concepts that are the same.
